Microdata Dissemination and Protection 

The intermediate-level course offers foundational tools and methods for microdata anonymization, protection and dissemination. The training presents the participants on the use of international metadata standards and best practices for the documentation and cataloguing of microdata, through hands-on training sessions and open-source software and tools. All software applications used in the training are open-source software and freely downloadable.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the core concepts and methods of microdata anonymization, and their limitations. 
  • Understand the importance of rich and structured metadata for data usability and discoverability. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the purpose and use of the DDI Codebook and Dublin Core metadata standards. 
  • Demonstrate practical experience in the documentation, cataloguing, anonymization and dissemination of microdata. 

Who we are looking for

Staff from statistical institutes and training centers in charge of training programs related to microdata management and processing, as well as Mid-level survey statisticians and data processing specialists in national statistical agencies or line ministries, in charge of the management, processing, analysis, or dissemination of their organization’s microdata.
